Lucerne Mate Plus is a fermented, biologically active soil nutrition and microbe stimulant made specifically for lucerne. It wakes up native soil life, feeds the crop gently, and helps lucerne bounce back fast after cutting or grazing.
- Natural growth signals for lucerne helps & supports rapid crown and shoot regrowth between cuts, and drive deeper rooting for better persistence.
- Small peptides & free aminos in Lucerne Mate Plus acts like fast food for soil biology you’ll see a fast lift in microbial activity and nutrient cycling, even when conditions are cool or dry.
- Makes fertiliser work harder. Helps unlock nutrients you’ve already paid for, keeps trace elements plant available, and frees up some tied up phosphorus so roots can use it.
- Simple sugars to kickstart biology. Wakes bacteria and fungi to accelerate residue breakdown and feed the lucerne rhizosphere.
- Keeps lucerne ticking over under stress when nitrate uptake slows in hot, dry, or salty conditions. The amino fragments are still taken up so lucerne keeps photosynthesising.
- Stronger crowns, quicker recovery. Encourages robust root systems and crown health so stands rebound sooner after each cut or graze.
- Helps hold water in cells. Osmoprotectants support leaf firmness in hot, dry, or salty conditions, so plants keep making sugars.
- Better quality feed, when nutrient cycling improves you don’t just grow more leaf, you grow leaf with higher mineral density and better protein quality for hay and grazing.

Lucerne Mate Plus
Directions & Rates
Standard Rates - Spray/Soil Drench
• Normal program: 6 L/ha in 100–150 L/ha water after each cut/graze.
• Tired or stressed crops: 2 × 5 L/ha in 100–150 L/ha water, 7–10 days apart for smoother uptake and better ROI.
Timing & Frequency
• First spray at 3–4 trifoliates or 3 weeks after emergence.
• Then after each cut/graze or every 4–6 weeks.
• Pre-stress (heat/dry/cold): 4–6 L/ha 3–5 days before the event.
• Stress recovery: 4–6 L/ha 7–10 days after the event, or 2 × 3–4 L/ha a week apart.
Spray Setup
• Pressure/nozzles, aim for medium coarse droplets, 30–45 psi (2–3 bar). Avoid very high pressure >60 psi that increases drift.
• Water: 100–150 L/ha. Min 80 L/ha if coverage is good.
Moisture
• Rainfast 2–4 hours. After that window, an optional 3–5 mm irrigation helps move actives into the root zone. Use more only if soils are very dry.
Precautions
• Keep herbicides/fungicides to a separate pass where possible.
• Do not apply in heat or dry wind, or 1–2 days before severe weather.
• Strain before use - Manufactured through 100 micron filter

Performance is influenced by many factors outside KSP’s control (including water quality, spray set-up/pressure, tank mixes, soil type, moisture, temperature, salinity, grazing/cutting intervals, crop/variety, and timing). Results will vary.
Directions vs. Outcomes
All directions and rates are guides only. They do not guarantee a particular result. The user must determine suitability for their purpose, site, season and equipment.
Compatibility & small scale testing
Before full scale use
Perform a jar test and a small strip/plot test for crop safety and compatibility with other inputs;
- Verify spray water pH and quality and
- Calibrate application equipment.
User responsibility
The user is responsible for correct storage and handling, mixing order, PPE, application timing, adherence to all directions, and compliance with relevant laws/regulations and local conditions including drift management and protection of sensitive areas, stock and waterways.

Storage & Handling
Storage & Handling
General
- Store sealed, upright, out of direct sun, in a cool, dry, well ventilated area.
- Ideal storage temperature 10–25 °C. Avoid >30 °C and freezing.
- Keep away from alkaline products, oxidisers/sanitisers (e.g., bleach), and food/animal feed.
Container & materials
- Compatible: HDPE/PP/PVC tanks and lines, EPDM/Viton gaskets, poly or stainless fittings.
- Avoid long contact with unlined mild steel, galvanised or copper/brass.
- Leave headspace in drums/IBCs for thermal expansion. Use vented bungs if temps fluctuate.
Shelf life
- Unopened, stored as directed: 12 months typical
- After opening: use within 6 months. Reseal tightly after each use.
- Natural settling is normal, mix/recirculate before decanting.
Stability & appearance
- Product is naturally acidic (3.8–4.5 Ph).
- A light surface film (pellicle) may form after opening. This is cosmetic, skim if desired and strain before use.
Handling & decanting
- Do not pre mix with other products for storage. Only combine in the spray tank after jar tested.
- When transferring, strain through 100–150 µm mesh to remove fines.
- Minimise high shear recirculation, mix then spray rather than churning for hours.
- Open closures slowly to vent any built up CO₂ in warm weather.
Mix water & tank prep
- Use clean, low chlorine water. If using chlorinated supply, let it stand or carbon filter first.
- For best performance, adjust spray tank to pH 5–6 before adding product.
- Mix order: Water (¾ tank) → Pasture Mate Plus → other compatibles → top up water → oils last. Jar test first
Segregation & stacking
- Store away from alkalis (e.g., potassium silicate) and strong carbonate powders.
- Keep pallets stable and strapped, follow your packaging supplier’s stacking limits.
- Protect from puncture, keep bungs/caps clean to prevent cross contamination.
Transport
- Secure containers upright with closures tightened; protect from heat and sun.
- Avoid transporting pre-diluted mixes. Refer to the SDS for transport classification and emergency info.
Spill management
- Contain with absorbent (sand/vermiculite). Collect into labelled container for disposal per local regulations.
- Wash area with water, prevent entry to drains/waterways. Add small rinses to the next spray tank if allowed.
Container cleaning & disposal
- Triple-rinse empties; add rinseate to next tank mix.
- Recycle containers where facilities exist or dispose in accordance with local rules.
- If sanitising tanks, avoid bleach residues, use a citric acid rinse, then flush thoroughly.
Quality control (producer or depot)
- Record Batch No., Brew/Fill Date, pH on label.
- Re-check pH monthly on stored bulk; if pH rises >4.5, investigate contamination and re-acidify only if necessary.
